Miss Masque 2010
Official Pageant Rules
- Contestants must be born a male and have reached the legal age of majority (18) prior to the date of the pageant. Proof of age, such as a valid government issued driver’s license, photo identification card, military identification, or passport must be provided at the time of registration to the Pageant Coordinator. This ID must be on hand at all times while inside Club Masque. NO EXCEPTIONS. If for any reason the Pageant Coordinator or any Club Masque staff finds cause to investigate the legal age of the contestant, reasonable measures will be taken for the investigation to ensure that the contestant meets the minimum age requirement. If validation cannot be found, the contestant will be disqualified and entry fee will be forfeited.
- Judging will be based on a total point accumulated system. Tied scores will be broken by an on stage question asked by the head judge
- The Finalists will be judged in the following three categories in the Final Nights:
- On-Stage Question
- Creative Evening Wear
- Talent
- The use, possession, or distribution of any illegal drugs while the contestants are participating in any official Miss Masque 2010 Pageant events will not be tolerated. The use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs by the contestant or one of their agents (dresser, dancer, etc.) will lead to immediate disqualification of the contestant, removal from Club Masque, and forfeiture of all entry fees.
- The use, possession, or distribution of any alcoholic beverage by a contestant under the age of 21 is strictly prohibited. Any use, possession, or distribution of alcoholic beverages by the contestant or one of their agents (dresser, dancer, etc.) will lead to immediate disqualification of the contestant, removal from Club Masque, and forfeiture of all entry fees.
- Talent length is limited to seven minutes. Prop set-up is limited to two minutes. Prop take-down is limited to two minutes. Prop set-up and takedown times are not included in the seven minute talent time limit. You will have a total of eleven minutes. If a contestant exceeds the time limits, they will receive a score of zero for the talent category.
- Any type of talent presentation is acceptable except those that may cause injury to the contestant or others. The use of PYROTECHNICS is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to fire, fireworks, flash pots, flaming batons, etc. The use of authentic-looking weapons is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to guns, knives, swords etc.
- Any contestant or their agent (dresser, dancer, etc) caught in the act of stealing and/or damaging another contestant’s property or the property of Club Masque will be immediately disqualified, removed from Club Masque, and all entry fees will be forfeited.
- On Final Nights each Finalist is allowed one helper in the dressing area. All helpers must be at least legal age, 18. All helpers are required to wear an identification badge in the top left-hand area of their clothing at all times. Failure to properly display this badge will result in removal of the helper from the dressing area.
- Contestants who qualify through a preliminary will not be required to pay an entry fee. Contestants who do not qualify through a preliminary will pay an entry fee of $75.00 if registered by the Early Bird deadline, November 30, 2009. Any contestants who register after the Early Bird deadline will pay an entry fee of $100.00.
PERSONAL CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED, CASH ONLY. - Any disturbance during the Miss Masque 2010 Pageant caused by a contestant or their agent (dresser, dancer, etc.) will result in the disqualification of the contestant, removal from Club Masque, and forfeiture of all entry fees. The contestant will be banned from future Miss Masque events. We expect all contestants and their agents to behave in a professional manner. Club Masque will enlist a Dressing Room Monitor during final nights of the event. This Dressing Room Monitor will be responsible for maintaining control of this area.
- Each contestant must be present for roll call and rehearsal of the “Opening Number” at 6:00pm on Finals Night Monday December 7th 2009. Contestants who are not present at the respective times will have points deducted from that evening’s score (see administrative points).
- The winner of Miss Masque 2010 will be contractually obligated to Club Masque for six performance engagements throughout the year as the reigning title-holder. These performances will be scheduled no later than 30 days after winning the title.
- The winner and first runner-up if each prelim will advance to the Finals in December 2009. Also, the winner of each prelim will be guaranteed a future Saturday night booking at Club Masque and will be scheduled at later date.
- The total prize package of $2,500 will be divided evenly into two separate payments of $1,250. The first payment will be made immediately following the pageant. The remaining payment will be made separately at the completion of the contractually scheduled performances.
- The reigning Miss Masque 2010 is responsible for any and all travel expenses for the six contractually scheduled performances.
- A no-show or cancellation, without re-scheduling 14 days prior to any of the scheduled performances, will result in the forfeit of any future payments from the Miss Masque 2010 grand prize as well as the forfeit of any future bookings at Club Masque.
- All winners, including Mss Masque 2010, First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up must be present after the crowning number for pictures on stage at Club Masque. Failure to appear will result in forfeiture of all prize winnings and titles as well as future engagements at Club Masque.
Non-Scored Categories
Preliminary Nights
Parade of Contestants
All contestants competing will participate in Finals night parade of contestants. This category will not be judged or scored. The attire for this category is a costume accompanied by a mask. At this time you will be called out onto the stage, present yourself, then step up to the microphone and announce your stage name, contestant number, and give a brief intro.
Presentation Night
Presentation (all contestants)
Each contestant will be required to participate in the presentation of contestants at the beginning of Finals night. This category will not be judged or scored. The attire for this category is at your discretion. This will take place Monday, December 7, 2009.
Scored Categories
Creative Evening Wear (Worth 30 points)
Creative Evening Wear allows you to use your imagination to create an exciting and original style for after-five attire. Creative evening wear consists of creative and unique design of the ensemble and creative and unique accessories while still presenting a vision of elegance. Judges are instructed to look for creativity, fit, and design that make you stand out as a female illusionist! Please remember that this category is Creative Evening Wear, NOT Creative Costume. There is a fine line between Creative Evening Wear and Costume.
You are not required to step onto the catwalk unless asked to by the Head Judge. An Escort will be provided to help you step down. Signal the Escort by extending your right arm. Points will be deducted if the contestant is requested to step down, and the contestant chooses not to. Creative evening wear will take place during the first set on Finals night Monday December 7th 2009.
On Stage Question (Worth 20 points)
You will be judged on speaking ability (or appropriate form of communication) and how you answer the question that is posed to you. Interview will be held at the conclusion of the contestants Creative Evening Wear presentation on stage.
Talent (Worth 40 points)
Talent is the highest scored category in the Miss Masque 2010 Pageant. Contestants will be judged on their quality of lip sync, live vocals, props, back-up dancers, etc. Once again, Talent will be limited to seven (7) minutes. Prop set-up will be limited to two (2) minutes. Prop take-down will also be limited to two (2) minutes. Prop set-up and takedown times are not included in the seven- (7) minute talent time. You will have a total of eleven (11) minutes. If a contestant exceeds the time limits, they will receive a score of zero (0) for the talent category. Talent MUST be on CD. You must have a back up CD with you MP3 Players, IPOD, Flash Drives, Laptops, etc will not be allowed. Talent will take place during the second set on Finals night Monday December 7th 2009.
